School Breakfast & Lunch Program
Each school operates a hot lunch program and students are encouraged to participate. Breakfast and lunch are served on regular school days. Students are offered a daily choice of entree. Menus are posted in the cafeteria and are also available on the District website. Students may also bring a lunch from home and purchase milk, juice and dessert. Soda pop is not permitted in the schools.
Meals and/or separate ala carte items may be purchased. Cash or check deposits should be submitted to the school and must be received by the cafeteria by 10:00 A.M. to be credited that same day. Checks should be made out to Skokie School District 68. The district also offers on-line meal account access. Parents may view their child’s cafeteria purchases, account balance and make deposits using a charge card. Deposits from the site are downloaded twice per day at 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Go to: www.mymealtime.com for information on creating an on-line account. Email reminders are sent when the child’s balance is low or negative. Parents are also notified by the school office when the child’s balance is in the negative. Statements are not sent home, however the parent may request a statement at any time by contacting Barbara Oshita at 847/676-9000. All account balances carry over to the next year.
Free/reduced Priced Meal Program
Students from families whose income is at or below the levels set each year by federal National School Lunch Program guidelines are eligible for free or reduced price meals. In some cases foster children are eligible. No child is discriminated against because of race, sex, color, or national origin. Parents may apply at any time during the year for free or reduced price meals for their children. Enrollment must be renewed annually. Applications are mailed home each summer; they are also available at each school, on the school district website, or at the district office. Contact the district office (847/676-9000) if you have questions about this program.
