Early
or Special Dismissal
No student will be
excused from school during the day without a written or oral request
to the school office from the parent or guardian. The parent,
guardian or designated person must pick up the child in the school
office. The school reserves the right to deny early or special
dismissal to anyone other than a parent or guardian.
Emergency
School Closing
If it is necessary to close schools, parents will be notified
by phone. The District has joined with other Niles Township
school districts to participate in a phone notification service.
In addition, we will continue to participate in the Weather Alert
system which posts school closing information on Chicago-area
television stations. The District website will also include emergency
closing information.
Your children should
know where to go if they arrive home early due to an emergency
closing.
In some severe weather
conditions, students will be retained at school and buses will
be held until it is safe to depart. Non-bus riders will remain
in school unless the parent enters and requests release of the
child. In an emergency, please do not call the school; the lines
are needed for staff and safety communications.
Student
Fees
The Board of Education
is required by law to collect a rental fee for books provided
in the schools. In accordance with State law, fees which are a
prerequisite for a student's participation in any curricular or
extracurricular program may be reduced or waived where payment
may be a hardship to the parent. Students eligible for free or
reduced lunch may be eligible for waiver or reduction of school
fees. Also eligible are students from families who have experienced
significant loss of income due to severe illness or injury, or
unusual expenses such as fire, flood or storm damage or other
emergency situations. To apply for fee waiver, complete the application
form which was sent to each home. Forms are also available in
the school office. Appeals may be made to Assistant Superintendent
for Business, Beth Millard.
