Support Services

Overview of Support Services in District 68

District 68 provides a variety of Support Services in coordination with Niles Township District for Special Education (NTDSE). Support Services are provided to students based on formal and informal assessment of their educational and functional performance.

Speech/Language Pathologists assess and provide services to students with fluency, voice, receptive/expressive language, and sound system disorders that impact their ability to perform in the classroom setting. They participate in the problem solving process and provide consultative services to teachers.

School Social Workers help identify factors that can make school a more successful experience for general and special education students. They provide services in the classroom, small groups, and individually. School Social Workers provide information to parents and assist in accessing additional resources.

School Psychologists help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally by identifying and assessing learning and behavior problems that interfere with learning and by determining the best instructional strategies to promote student growth. School Psychologists also work with parents, teachers, and students to determine eligibility for Special Education Services by using a problem solving-approach.

Additional Support Services - Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Vision/Hearing Itinerant Services, Assistive Technology Services, and Intervention Specialists are provided through Niles Township District for Special Education (NTDSE) and the Low Incidence Cooperative Agreement (LICA).
