LMC Goals

This image gives an idea of what we do in the library! There are different areas that we focus on throughout the year. When most people think of the library, they think "books and reading," which is of course part of what we do, but we also learn how to do research, and how to be a good digital citizen.

In learning about Digital Citizenship, we learn about balancing out technology use, how to communicate effectively and kindly, how to process what we see online and know if it is trustworthy, how to keep things private and safe, and knowing that what we do online leaves a "footprint" behind.

In learning about Research, we learn how to use strategies in searching for sources, access different sources, evaluate information, take notes, summarize information, give credit to sources we use, and present what we've learned.

In learning about Literature, Books and Reading, our focus is to become independent library users. This means, using the catalog and knowing how the library is organized in order to find what we are looking for. It also includes strategies in choosing books, reading award winning books, knowing the difference between fiction and non-fiction, reading different genres and authors, learning literary elements, understanding the author's purpose, and responding to what we read.

I hope this gives you an idea of what is happening in the library throughout the year!
