Dr. Scott Grens is the Superintendent of Skokie School District 68, where he leads with a service-driven commitment to equity, innovation, and student-centered learning. With experience as a teacher, principal, and district leader, he has dedicated his career to building inclusive, high-performing schools that help every student succeed.
Before joining Skokie 68, Dr. Grens served as Associate Superintendent in Elmhurst CUSD 205, where he led district-wide priorities for Teaching & Learning, Student Services, and Technology for 9,000 students and 700 educators. Earlier in his career, he taught high school and went on to serve in school leadership roles in the Chicago Public Schools and Lincolnwood SD 74, always with a focus on building collaborative teams, leading innovative programs, and aligning resources to support student growth.
Raised in the Chicagoland area and a proud Chick Evans Scholar, Dr. Grens earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later completed his master’s and doctorate in Educational Leadership at National Louis University, where he now serves as an adjunct professor for future school and district leaders. He is deeply committed to service and continuous improvement at the system level, ensuring that organizational priorities advance the growth and success of all students and educators.
Outside of his work in Skokie 68, Dr. Grens values time with his family, especially his two sons, ages 12 and 9.
