HIGHLANDPALOOZA TIME !!

Highlandpalooza is just a few short months away, so we are kicking off planning now to make sure the event is a success! We need your help! We are forming planning committees for all aspects of the event.  CLICK HERE FOR INFORMATION ON COMMITTEES AND SIGNING UP to help. We have divided the responsibilities into manageable groups so the lift is not too great.

Highlandpalooza is our big carnival and fundraiser help near the end of the school year. It includes a carnival with activities, entertainment and food, as well as a silent auction to help us raise money for the event and PTA activities throughout the year.

We cannot do this without strong parent participation and support. The more help we get the better Highlandpalooza will be!

Scholastic Book Fair

The Highland PTA is proudly hosting the Scholastic Book Fair on Feb 13th, Thursday and Feb 19th, during Parent Teacher Conferences.

Highland families and friends are invited to come check out the book fair and support our Highland library and classroom libraries. A percentage of purchases made during the fair will go straight back to the Highland library.

Another way families can support is by donating funds directly to the Highland Library eWallet account. https://shop.scholastic.com/ewallet/fund?lang=en_US&walletId=520dfc23-cd37-414a-9de6-879c289c2941
This will give Mrs. Talbert, Highland’s librarian, another option to fill the school’s library with more books and resources.

Volunteers are needed for a 15 minute time slot to help customers with their book fair transactions.

Skokie Public Library Connections

The Skokie Public Library is hosting these and many other family-friendly events this winter.

Mystery at the Museum of Black History
Saturday, February 7 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm and Thursday, February 19 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Work together to uncover hidden clues and solve puzzles to unravel the mystery in this escape-room style event. Along the way, you'll learn about important figures, events, and contributions in Black history.

The BookMobile at Highland School
The BookMobile is at Payne Street and Keystone Avenue every Thursday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Every Highland student has a Skokie Public Library barcode for book checkout in coordination with the school.

Skokie residents can get a library card on the bookmobile. The library also offers free WiFi outside the bookmobile while it is parked at each community stop. You can come on board and browse books. Holds pickup is also available if you requested "bookmobile" when you placed the hold on the Skokie Public Library website.

Accessible Activities for the Whole Family
Explore the library’s offerings in a quiet, uncrowded environment during our accessibility hour on Sunday, February 15. We’ll have games, crafts, and Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy dogs. Registration is required.
