Valentine's Day Celebrations

We will be having Valentine's Day celebrations next Thursday, February 12. Please see communication from your child's teacher about what is needed.

If you would like your child to participate, please send in the following:
  1. Valentines for every student in the class.
  2. You may have your child bring in a box to hold all your child’s Valentines. We will provide a bag for your child's Valentines if you child does not bring in a box.
  3. If you would like to send in a sweet treat or gift for the students, it must be NUT FREE. All food items will be sent home and not consumed at school.

Winter Parent/Teacher Conferences

Winter parent/teacher conferences are coming up on February 13 and 19. Parent/Teacher conferences on February 13 will be virtual and will be held between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Parent/teacher conferences on February 19 will be in-person and will be from 3:30-7:00 p.m. in your child’s classroom at the ECC.

You will sign-up for conferences using Parent Square. Your child’s teacher sent you an invitation to do this on Wednesday, January 28.

If you need an interpreter, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible.

Please Save E-Learning Materials

Last Thursday, we sent home a Ziploc bag full of materials in the event the District needs to have an E-Learning Day because of inclement weather. Please remove the bag from your child's folder and backpack and keep it in a safe place at home. Please do not open the bag of materials at this time. If the District closes schools for an E-Learning Day, your child's teacher will send a message with instructions about what to do with the materials either on the E-Learning Day or the day before the E-Learning Day.

We have a very limited number of extra sets and will not be able to send replacement bags of materials.

Dress for the Weather

It is winter in Skokie. Please be sure to dress your child appropriately for the conditions. We will continue to go outside for gross motor activities when the feels like temperature is at or above 15 degrees Fahrenheit and the playground is not too wet.

To help your child stay comfortable and safe outdoors, please send them to school with:

  • A warm jacket or coat
  • Hat and gloves/mittens
  • Extra layers for colder mornings

If your child has a set of extra clothes at the ECC, please send us a pair of pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and socks.

Please also make sure to label all clothing and personal items with your child’s name to help prevent them from getting lost or mixed up with others.

Car Seats

Please have your child in the right car seat for your child's age, height, and weight in your vehicle when you drop-off or pick-up your child from school.

The Child Passenger Protection Act requires that all children under age 8 be properly secured in an appropriate child safety restraint system.

Children ages 2 to 4 should remain in a rear-facing safety seat for as long as possible, or until they are at the upper height or weight limit of the seat. When a child out- grows a rear-facing safety seat, he or she may transition to a forward-facing seat with a harness system.

Children ages 4-8 should be secured in a forward-facing safety seat with an internal harness system until they reach the upper height or weight limit allowed by the car seat manufacturer. When a child outgrows the forward-facing seat, he or she may transition to a belt-positioning booster seat.

For more information about child passenger safety requirements, please click HERE.

If you need help obtaining the appropriate car seat for your child(ren), please contact your child's teacher, and our team will work to connect you with resources that can help.

Vehicle Hang Tag Reminder and Replacement
As we welcome a new faculty member to our team, we kindly request that you display your current vehicle hang tag in your car for identification purposes.

If you require a replacement hang tag, please contact the main office, and we will be happy to provide one for you. Thank you for your cooperation.

Snack Information

Your child will receive a nutritious snack daily at preschool. Snacks typically include a whole grain, a fresh fruit, and milk. Click on the February Snack Menu to find out more.

Please note that today's, 2/6/26's, snack was apple oatmeal bars instead of chocolate chip oatmeal bars.
