This week we wrapped up our exciting unit on buildings! The children explored the different parts of buildings, including roofs, chimneys, windows, and doors, and had fun talking about the types of buildings they see in their own neighborhoods. Each child even chose a favorite building to share. We were able to take a walk to visit the new school building site and practice labeling the different parts. In our literacy activities, we continued practicing letter identification, sounds, and writing, while creating alliteration word lists and illustrating our ideas in journals. During math time, the children worked on number recognition by building tall structures with the exact number of blocks to match a given numeral. Our classroom was full of teamwork as small groups collaborated to design and build buildings together, strengthening communication, problem-solving, and cooperation skills. At the art table, creativity shined as the children used a variety of shapes and materials to design their own buildings, proudly using new vocabulary to describe their creations.
