Transforming Learning in 68 (TLi68)

As part of the TLi68 initiative, students in Pre-K have sets of iPads to use in the classroom, and students in kindergarten through grade 8 participate in the 1:1 component of the initiative.

The philosophy behind TLi68 is that technology positively impacts teaching and learning. Our goal is to leverage technology to transform teaching and learning through the development of our students’ 21st Century Skills, skills which education and business leaders across the country have identified as critical for our students’ success in high school, college, and in the workplace.

We recognize that many of the 21st Century Skills are not technology dependent but rather are skills and mindsets, many of which can be developed with or without technology, however, the education and application of these skills in our modern and evolving society are firmly intertwined with technology. Technology is part of the context with which the children of today will live, learn, socialize, play, and eventually work. Given that technology is not going away but will become an ever-increasing presence in our children's lives, it is imperative to expose children to it in an environment of guidance and supportive learning rather than to let them discover it for themselves unsupervised and without the benefit and help of thoughtful and trained educators.
