Classroom Spotlight: Miss Krissy's Classes

This week we continued our unit of study on buildings, and The Three Little Pigs remained a class favorite with lots of excitement and engagement. We explored several different versions of the story, which helped deepen the children’s understanding. The children created each of the three pigs’ houses and used masks to act out the story, practicing recall and sequencing skills as they shared their specific parts. For art, the children followed step-by-step directions to create dictated drawings of pigs and used a variety of materials to represent the different houses. In the sensory table, foam blocks and water encouraged hands-on exploration as children built and experimented with different shapes and structures. It was a fun and busy week of learning about buildings! Next week, we will shift our focus to buildings in our community and explore their different parts.

Volunteer Readers Needed Week of April 13

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is celebrating the Week of the Young Child from April 11-17. At the ECC, we also celebrate the Week of the Young Child annually and plan fun activities throughout the week. As part of this year's celebration, we are looking for parents, guardians, and other adult family members who are willing to come in and read a book to the students in your child's class. Please see your child's teacher's newsletter from this week for more information, including how to sign-up to participate.
