Together We Soar 9-4-26

Dear Highland Families,

Our second week of school was filled with smiles, learning, and positive vibes! We began the week with Principal Atto teaching our breakfast and lunch expectations and ended with our i-Ready assessments. We are so proud of the way our Hawks continue to live out our school values and demonstrate that Together We Soar! 

As we prepare for inclement weather, we want to remind our families that students will enter the building through Door #3 on Payne Street. We also ask for your help in keeping arrival and dismissal as safe as possible for our children. Please park only in designated parking areas and refrain from parking along the curb—even if you are only stopping for a quick minute. Keeping the curb clear helps ensure that students and families can move safely and efficiently.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us maintain these important safety expectations.

Our amazing Highland staff is getting ready for our upcoming Open House on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. 

Please mark your calendar! 

We can’t wait to welcome our Highland Hawks families and students into our nest for Open House on Wednesday, September 9th.

This is more than an opportunity to visit your child’s classroom—it’s a chance to connect, build relationships, and celebrate our amazing school community together.

Come meet our teachers and staff, see where your child learns and grows each day, and get a glimpse into the wonderful things happening throughout Highland. We want every family to feel welcomed, connected, and like an important part of our school family.

Picture Day, Friday, September 11th! 

Families may order from the flyer sent home. When pictures are returned to school, all students who purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student who was photographed but did not order a package will receive a "Proof" PX of their picture that was taken on picture day. 

All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs and will be shipped directly to your home. 

Looking forward to seeing all of our Hawks' BIG smiles! 

The Skokie Public Library Bookmobile will be parked at Payne Street and Keystone Avenue on Thursday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:15. Every Highland student has a Skokie Public Library barcode for book checkout, coordinated with the school.

Highland families can come on board the Bookmobile and browse books. Hold pickup is also available if you requested "Bookmobile” when you placed the hold on the library website.

Our incredible PTA is working super hard to connect our families and teachers to support our Hawks!
