Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts!

As we continue working together to help our Hawks reach their full potential, we want to remind all families of the importance of daily school attendance. Every school day provides valuable opportunities for learning, building relationships, developing routines, and making academic progress. Being present consistently helps students stay connected to their learning and experience the full benefits of their education.
We hope you enjoyed receiving your attendance magnet! This magnet serves as a reminder of the powerful impact of being at school and meeting our 95% and above attendance expectation. Our goal is to encourage students to attend school regularly, arrive ready to learn, and build habits that support long-term success.

Every day counts, and every day your child is present makes a difference!

Please continue to monitor your child’s attendance, communicate with the school when needed, and partner with us to ensure your child is here and ready to learn each day. Your encouragement and support play an essential role in helping your child develop strong attendance habits.

Thank you for your continued partnership, your trust in our staff, and your commitment to our school community. Together, we can create opportunities for every Hawk to grow, achieve, and SOAR!

School Safety Process Reminder

To help keep our Highland nest safe and welcoming, all visitors will be required to present an ID when checking in at the main office on every visit, even if you are familiar with our staff. Please have your ID ready to help make check-in quick and easy.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our students and staff safe!

Highland School Walk-a -thon! October 16th!

We’re so excited for our annual Highland School Walk-a-thon on Friday, October 16th at 2:15 PM!

All students and staff participate in this fun, school-wide event that helps raise funds for our Highland School Angel Fund. The Angel Fund provides necessary items and services for our families who may need a helping hand.

Here’s how you can help:

✅ Look for the pledge sheet that came home.
✅ Encourage friends and family to sponsor your child with a small donation.
✅ Return all pledge sheets and donations to your child’s classroom teacher by Friday, October 16th.
Families are welcome to walk with us! Come out and cheer on the kids or join the walk!
Want to volunteer?
We’d love your help during the event! Please contact Mrs. Weissenberg at kweissenberg@skokie68.org

Thank you for supporting our Highland community!  Together We Soar

Halloween is around the Corner!

We are excited to share that we will have Halloween parties on Thursday, October 31, from 2:30-3:30. The children really enjoy it when their grown-ups can come, so we hope you can make it!

A few reminders:

  • Costumes should not be worn to school in the morning. We will put them on in the early afternoon. Please know that violent characters or weapons are not permitted.

  • We will have a parade at about 3:10 p.m., with all of the visitors going to the playground to be the spectators. If it is too cold or rainy, we will parade indoors.
  • If you would like to opt your child out of the Halloween celebration, please email your child’s teacher. We already have a separate list of activities that they will be engaged in during that time.
