Title I Programming

Skokie School District 68 receives Title 1 funding for all its schools.  Title I is a federally funded program designed to help ensure that all students have access to the support they need to succeed in school. Title I funding provides additional academic resources, services, and learning opportunities for students who may benefit from extra support in reading, mathematics, or other identified areas.

Each Skokie School District 68 school is considered a “school-wide Title school” meaning that funds can be used to support all students. Title I services are provided at no cost to families.

  • Title I provides funding to support the following in District 68:

    • Additional intervention materials and learning resources
    • Extended learning opportunities
    • Professional learning for teachers and staff
    • Family engagement activities and resources
    • Additional staff who support student learning

  • These are many opportunities provided to parents/guardians to become involved in their child’s education:

    • Surveys asking parents/guardians to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the program
    • Parent-Teacher communications via telephone calls, e-mail, newsletters, personal contact, and conferences
    • Open House events
    • Title I Parent Orientation meeting held at the start of the school year

  • We are committed to providing every student with highly skilled teachers and support staff. Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), families of students attending schools that receive Title I funding have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of their child’s teachers and paraprofessionals.

    Families may ask whether their child’s teacher:

    • Meets Illinois licensing and qualification requirements for the grade level and subject area being taught;
    • Is teaching under an emergency or provisional license; and
    • Is licensed or certified in the subject area they teach.

    Families may also request information about whether their child receives services from a paraprofessional and, if so, the paraprofessional’s qualifications.

    In addition, families have the right to:

    • Receive available information about their child’s achievement and growth on required state assessments;
    • Be notified if their child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable state licensing or certification requirements; and
    • Request information about assessments, student achievement, and programs that support English learners.

    Our staff is committed to helping every student develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in school and beyond. If you have questions or would like to request information about your child’s teacher or paraprofessional, please contact your school principal.

  • Disclosure of Federal Participation-Stevens Amendment

    Projects or programs funded in whole or in part with Federal grant money must credit the Federal government for the Federal government's portion of the financial support. The use of Federal dollars by Skokie District 68 for staff development opportunities and parent programs have been funded in whole or in part with Federal entitlement dollars.
