Encore Team

The Encore Team at Old Orchard Junior High provides enrichment and special learning opportunities for students. The Encore team offers Food and Consumer Sciences, Gateway to Tech, Digital Literacy, Drama, General Music and Art. In 6th grade students take 5 different classes in a 6 week rotation however one of the classes is a 12 week course. 6th grade students also have the option of taking orchestra or band on a daily basis. 7th and 8th students will take some or all of the above six classes. These classes are on a 12 week rotation and more advanced and in depth topics will be covered in each Encore Class. In addition to the 6 classes, students have the option of taking Orchestra, Band or Foreign Language as one of their Encore classes.

Encore Events:

Recognition breakfast held every trimester
Students participate in the National French Contest
Students Participate in the National Spanish Exam
8th Grade FCS students prepare and host a breakfast at the end of each trimester
Drama class students perform at the end of each trimester
Applied Tech students create and test their dragsters and towers
8th Grade foreign language students experience authentic cultural dining at French or Spanish restaurants
